Day 2 Snuggles

Tonight as we were putting the kids to bed Addy said:

"Mom don't leave I will be lonely." (This is a nightly occurrence)

My response: "You won't be lonely Luke is right here to keep you safe."

At that point Luke crawled from his bed up to her bed and snuggled up close to Addy. He put his hand out and she put her hand in his. They fell asleep like that!

Priceless

*I am trying to figure out how to capture this moment in a photo but I am just too worried the flash from my camera will wake them up. I am determined. I will photograph this!

Claire 4 month stats

Weight 12.7 lbs - 18th %
Length 24.75 in - 55th %
Head 16.3 in - 51st %

Our little Claire Bear is growing. I LOVE this stage!

Snuggle

Tonight we tried putting Addy and Luke in the same room to sleep. It was time to have Claire out of our room and on her own. I just didn't think she would do so well sharing a room just yet. So I thought I would try the other two together. Let me tell you I had a LOT of reservations about this move. I mean why try to fix something that isn't broken. Changing up routine does not always settle well with my kids. They are creatures of habit and routine. So in order to make this work we told them they got to have a sleepover in Addy's room. They were both so excited. We moved Luke's toddler bed in next to Addy and put them to sleep. After James told the usual story and said prayers we left the room. Both of us lingered for a while waiting for the door to open, for chatting to occure. To our amazement NOT A PEEP! I went in a while later to check and I found Luke and Addy snuggled up asleep together in Addy's bed. Sibling love!
I love it!

I just hope tomorrow night goes as smoothly

I also hope that Claire does okay on her own tonight....

Meal Time

Today on a whim I decided to let Claire try rice cereal.
She has not had any foods yet and is almost
5 months old. The verdict is still out on weather
she liked it or not. I am not sure if I will keep feeding
her rice cereal for now or not. I might
wait and see how it all digests.  Enjoy
the photo documentary of her experience.

Diaper Rash

Claire has a MAJOR diaper rash. Any suggestions on how to get rid of it or relieve her pain. I have tried...

* going diaperless for a few minuets at a time
* A & D ointment
* Butt Paste
*baby power to keep dry

None of the above have worked so far. No fun!

Suggestions PLEASE...

Addy's Love Day

Photobucket

Addy has her Preschool Valentines Day party today!
She is so excited. We worked hard putting together
little valentines goodie bags for all of her friends.
She is getting so big I can hardly believe it.

It makes me think about how much I love her.
She is my first born baby. I love her for all that she is now
and all that she will become!

The Better Choice Chair

While I was home in DC I had a wonderful visit with some old high school friends. Kara, Marisa, and Nadia, it was wonderful catching up with you. I wanted to share some words of parenting wisdom that Kara shared with me.

I know we all struggle with discipline. For me its the hardest part of parenting but one of the most necessary parts too. I have tried to make discipline a positive experience for all parties involved. Me, my children, my husband, etc. It has not always worked out so well, but hey I can try. Over Christmas though I was enlightened when I heard of this new name for an old trick. I know we have all heard of the "time out" chair, Supernanny would call it the "naughty spot" for young ones or the "reflection chair" for those a little older. I guess for me I have had a hard time putting my kids in "time out" or the "naughty spot" because of what it was called. It was a place of punishment. Not good. Then Kara enlightened me to the new phrase the "Better Choice Chair." I love it! Its positive place where a child can go and think about what they have done and what they would have done different. Lets be honest they all follow the same principles. We just want our kids to make a better choice. Then why not call it what its purpose is. The new "time out spot" in our house is now called the "better choice chair." I am loving it. My kids are too. Addy thinks about what would have been a better choice and I make her explain why it is a better choice when she is done thinking. Its all positive discipline.

Now for Luke, well he is still learning. To be honest he is just getting into the provoking stage. His new hobby is to provoke Addy. Its pretty funny, but being the good mom I am I don't laugh, at least not to his face, and I put him in the better choice chair, and then he looks at me with this face.

Oh man its going to be some rough years trying to discipline that face. He makes me just melt and laugh all at the same time!

Heart Attack

This week we got a little surprise on our door step.

Photobucket
I told the kids it was from the "Valentines fairy" (in our house every holiday has a fairy attached to it.) They were amazed. I wish I had caught Addy's wonderment on tape. It was priceless.

Thank you to those who gave us this special surprise. It was much appreciated!

I just can't get enough of it!
