Last night after an hour of screaming I have to admit I caved! I gave her the binky back. She went right to sleep and I was happy. I felt totally defeated and taken over but there was quite in my house and that felt nice. Today after traveling across the country she went to sleep tonight with no problems at all. Poor Luke on the other hand has been screaming on and off for 45 minuets. I feel so sad for him. I have tried to console him but he is just not used to sleeping in a strange location. Oh man! I am tired.
I will try again with the "giving up the binky" just not today.
Another night of SCREAMING!!! I mean screaming her head off! I don't know what to do. She wants the binky still after over a week. I am at my wits end. So tired and sick of the crying. Arggggg.... do I give in?
Okthis I am not ready for. Addy needs her nap. If she doesn't nap for days at a time she wakes up with night terrors during the night. Last night was bad and so was the night before. It didn't help that she woke up at 6am throwing up as well. That continued for most of the day. Yikes!
Also, why is it that when Addy has a babysitter put her to bed she is always a dream. She goes right to bed without any problems. Lately she has been screaming for me for what feels like forever! I don't know how to handle this one. I really don't. Hopefully things will get better when we go back to DC to visit. I am worn out!!!
Last night for Family Night we went fishing. Addy got to try out her new fishing rod. It was priceless. She was so excited and James was so eager to teach her the ways of the fisher(man). Luke was happily entertained by running around on the grass close by or eating twizzlers. It was overall a great night, even though we didn't catch any fish. I think James is going to take Addy tomorrow. I have my fingers crossed that they will catch something.
Last night Addy cried herself to sleep. I am not a bad mom I gave her plenty of love and reassurance, but I told her that at some point I was not going to come back into her room if she cried. I tucked her into bed with five of her favorite stuffed animals. I explained to her that if she can sleep through the night in her own room without her binky then she got to pick something out of her special bag of treasures to have for the next day. I kissed her and hugged her and said goodnight. She cried for about 10 minuets and then silence. I peeked in on her about 10 minuets later and she was staring at the fan in her room lying in her bed cuddling her animals and her "mimi doll." 15 min later she was asleep.
When she woke up this morning she was so proud of herself for sleeping without her binky. She ran over to her treasure bag first thing and picked out a bag of princess fruit snacks (left over from her princess party). She was so excited she tore into them right there. Oh well! She may be eating sugar for breakfast but SHE SLEPT IN HER OWN ROOM WITHOUT HER BINKY!!!
Here's to day 4
PS: Where is the dish fairy?
I have been waiting for 3 days now for the dish washing fairy to come and wash my dishes. Does this mean that I have to do them now? Really I have been a really good girl! Please come to my rescue Dish fairy. Please?
Some issues have arisen with the "binky be gone" situation. Addy now struggles to nap and night time.... well lets just say she was up in and out of our room until 11pm last night. She ended up sleeping on our floor. There was lots of crying and wining for "I need my binky." I hope this doesn't last much longer. I am seriously needing a good nights sleep.
First night some crying, had to fall asleep in our bed but slept through the night. I did not cave even though I was exhausted. Lots of hugs and reassurance. It was quite sweet. When she woke up in the morning she had a present from the Binky fairy waiting for her... new roller skates. It was actually one of her birthday presents that we didn't get to yesterday so it worked out perfect.
First nap went great! She sang to herself for almost and hour then quite for and hour and a half. It was great!
** Currently my kids are eating their post-nap treat (lollipops from the party). Of course they are sharing with each other. It is so funny!** One lick for you. One lick for me.
So this day has been anticipated by my anxious little one for some time now. When I told her it was her birthday when she woke up this morning she said to me, "Today? Today is my birthday! FINALLY!!!" It was so priceless. We had a fun filled day of sugar, sugar and more sugar. I am not sure she really ate anything else for that matter, but hey its her birthday! Here are some exciting pictures from our day and from her birthday party tonight.
My little Three year old!
What a cute birthday girl!
Our day trip to Cascade Springs
Luke was fascinated by all of the waterfalls. He couldn't get enough of it.
Addy couldn't get enough of the flowers!
My favorite little legs
The party was a hit! I am exhausted from it though. Notice in the above picture all of the kids at the table are eating chips. For all of the food I prepared those were the biggest hit!
Princess Tiara Pinata...enough said!
I wish this photo has been in the right focus. It would have been an awesome shot! The kids couldn't quite open the pinata themselves so we had a little game of baseball with the dads.
Finding all the loot.
Addy opening some of her gifts, as well as wearing some.
The much anticipated fishing rod. All Addy said she wanted for her birthday was a fishing rod. What? A three year old wants a fishing rod? Yeah you heard me right...a fishing Rod... a PINK one!
Addy and her amazing pink bear Cake. Lovingly handcrafted by our dear friend Kara! Thank you Kara. It was a huge hit!
I love that he is learning so many new words every day. It is so fun to watch his language develop. I find it actually fascinating! Yesterday as we were driving down the road Luke looked out the window and yelled out "HORSE!!!" and wouldn't you know...there were some horses. Oh man I love this kid!
So three days from now not only marks the 3rd birthday of my oldest daughter Addy it marks another big milestone in her life. We are giving up the binki...FINALLY!!! For the past 7 months or so Addy has only been allowed to use her binki to sleep at night. She is SUPER attached to her beloved binki. So to prepare her for the trauma we have been teaching her about the "binki fairy". The binki fairies comes to little children when they are too old for binkies anymore. They ask the children to collect all of their binkies and put them in a pretty basket (one we will decorate together). Then the binki fairy comes at night and takes the basket and in its place leaves a small gift of gratitude. Then the binki fairy will give the binkies to all of the little babies who need them. Addy seems to understand the concept of the binki fairy pretty good so I am hoping the transition will go well, but... we shall wait and see. I am VERY nervous about this but know that its time to let it go! Wish us all luck please. I know it will be a rough few nights.
** You can ignore the name Annabell on the picture above. I got it off of Google images.**
Last Friday we were able to take a family trip up to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. We had a ball and the kids loved it. Big hits of the day... milking the cow, riding ponies, petting goats, seeing ducks, huge horses, sheep, chickens, etc. It was well worth the trip even though it ended with a little accident. Addy was having way too much fun to stop to use the potty. Oh well. Here are some of our highlights...
This morning I woke up to happy sounds from my beautiful children, a reminder that I am a mother... a lucky one! The kids, with the help of dad, made me breakfast in bed. It consisted of orange juice, eggs, bagel, ice cream with strawberries and chocolate syrup. It was PERFECT! I was also blessed with home made cards and a beautiful poem that James wrote. It reminded me of our days when we were dating. James would write me nonsensical poems all the time. I know he will not like this but I am going to post it for posterity's sake.

Mothers Day is the best!
** I would also like to take this moment to thank my own Mother. She is wonderful and I love her. Thank you for all you do for me. The support you give me, the love you show me! Its endless and I am forever grateful! I love you!**
I had to document this one. A few days ago Luke started calling out to me in the morning. This is not unusual because when he wakes up I am used to hearing him call out 'Mamma" or "Da Da." A few days ago though it was "MOM!" I mean "MOM, MOM, MOM, MOM, MOM!!!" He wouldn't stop until I went in his room. Since when does a 16 month old say "MOM!" Like he is some teenage trying to get my attention. I have to admit it is really cute to hear because it is so clear and articulate. I love hearing it! He is so adamant when he says it. It's just melts me!
He also has started (clearly) saying Addy, cho cho (for train), bus, books, balloon and dog. I will post a video of him saying all of this because it is just one of the cutest things I have ever seen. I know family will enjoy it! Anyone else who reads this blog...indulge me.
We have an ANT problem. I mean thousands in the garage, no exaggeration, ant problem. I am so disgusted. When I got home today I found literally thousands of dead aunts all over the wall and the ground in the corner of our garage. It was so traumatic I know I am going to have ant/bug nightmares tonight. YUCK!!! James sprayed our house a week ago. All along the perimeter and in the garage that is why they were dead we are assuming. So again we spray, wait and hope that they don't return. But I fear we have a serious ant infestation on our hands. Just a few minuets ago I went out to look (hours after James cleaned up the first huge mess) and there were 20 or so new ants lying dead. YIKES! I seriously feel like they are crawling up my skin when I think about it. Anyone have any good suggestions on how to get rid of ants. The other day I was cleaning Luke's room and found one of his binkis under his bed covered in ants. (shivers...yuck!) It was so disgusting I immediately took it threw it away and cleaned his room from top to bottom. But how do you get rid of ants in carpet on the second floor? Where are they coming from?? Investigation pending...
James, Addy and Luke were sweet enough to give me my Mother's Day gift early this year! Introducing the newest member of our family...Shark Steam Mop
I am so excited about my new cleaning toy. I used it for the first time on my embarrassingly dirty floors. It was amazing! No mess and no clean up! I truly am converted that steam cleaning floors is the way to go. This little toy makes my job just that much easier. Now I will for sure clean my floors more. I know my husband will be grateful for that! With two toddlers lets just be honest that they can get pretty dirty. Not anymore! Clean up a breeze. So happy. What a great Mother's Day!
