With family in town all weekend I let Addy skip her nap on Saturday and Sunday (she is a good napper and sleeps usually from 1-3:30 every day). Last night as we were finishing up dinner, chatting and playing Addy said to me...
Addy: "Mom can I go to bed now?"
Me (shocked at her request): "Ummmm sure."
I then took her up to her "little bed" ( a bed we made for her on the floor of our room as her room was taken up by our company). She climbed in and fell asleep almost instantly, and slept until 8am this morning. She even slept through Luke's screams at 5am this morning (thats another story). I guess my little girl does know when she is really tired.
Today Addy and the family were sitting around the table eating lunch together. We are blessed to have lots of family in town visiting this week. Anyway, Grandpa was eating and Addy was watching him intently.
Addy: "Grandpa you need to use good manners." ( Addy realized that Grandpa was not using a plate to eat his pizza, he was using a napkin.)
Grandpa:"Oh your right" (quickly grabbing a plate)
Addy: "Now that's good manners Grandpa. Its always good to have good manners."
Oh the wisdom of a two year old
Also, today Addy was ripe with pretend games. She told me that she was growing a garden in an empty basket. She watered her garden with a watering can, she put her garden in the sunlight and waited for it to grow. She sat there and watched the empty basket sitting in the sun and exclaimed that the flowers had grown. Once they were ready she picked them and handed them out to everyone in the room insisting of course that we all wear them in our hair, even the boys! It was so adorable.
Luke had another hard time going to sleep tonight. When he is sick or when there is company over he just doesn't want to go to sleep. I think tonight he just wanted to hang with the boys. I figured the best way to get him to calm down and relax and hopefully fall asleep was to take him on a little drive. Well a little drive turned into a long drive and when I felt like I had driven ever corner of town TWICE I turned up the street towards the LDS Temple (a beautiful sight at night). As soon as we approached Luke turned his head and closed his eyes. As if the Lords spirit himself came down to comfort his little sick body and helped him relax enough to finally fall asleep. It was such a sweet and peaceful experience. There is something so calming and peaceful about just being near the Temple. I am so blessed we live so close now.
We find ourselves at the Dr.s Office. I am thinking that they might think I am one of those mothers who makes their child sick. I assure you of course I AM NOT! All I want is for my kids to be well but maybe its just not in the cards for these little ones. At least at not this stage in their lives. It could be much worse I keep telling myself. I just want to cry when Luke wakes up at 1am with a 103 fever and pretty much stays up all night because he is so intensely hot. At least during the day we can control it with massive amounts of Tylenol and Motrin. At night again throwing up, and another high fever. The Dr. says there is really nothing he can do. Just wait it out. Story of my life. Oh well. I am sure he will be back to his old self again soon. At least his ears are clear and the tubes seem to be working. That's a blessing!
Here's hoping that my next post is NOT about sick kids.
Well Luke has successfully recovered from his surgery. He is doing well and slept through the night last night. It was wonderful! He was such a trooper and I am so happy its all over. After he got out of recovery he was pretty groggy and cranky but within an hour he was back to himself and has not looked back since.
We are all doing well now! Healthy and happy. What a blessing
Ok so I think we are all on the mend now. Two nights ago I got what Addy had and well lets just say it wasn't pretty. Lots of shaking, vomiting, and sleeping going on. Thank you Nancy who came over and kept us company on Friday. You were a life saver! I was going a little stir crazy cooped up in the house all week. We are all feeling good now though and last night all of us slept through the night... I mean ALL NIGHT LONG!!! I know that was an answer to many MANY fervent prayers. So I am here to tell you that prayer does work! I also prayed that I would be healed this morning and feel well. That prayer was also answered because today I have more energy and feel better then I have in weeks. Hopefully this is a turning point! I am crossing my fingers. All I know now is that we will be putting movies away for a while and getting prepared for Mimi and Uncle Bryan to visit this week! YEA!!! WE can't wait! We will also be enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather that will be moving into town this week.
Sweet Addy Quote of the week:
Addy stroking my hand while I am sick on the couch says to me : "I love you my little darling."
Addy has been throwing up every hour since 11pm last night. I guess the flu has paid a visit to our house. Poor thing. She is so brave. Every time she throws up she says "I'm ok mom". I told her last night "Addy, I am so proud of you." She responded: "I'm so proud of you too mommy." I just love this girl. Lets just hope we all feel better soon.
My one saving grace is I actually was a good mom and did some finger painting with the kids. How you ask? I am not exactly sure. Pictures of that to come later. Here's to a better afternoon... NAP TIME!
Today was a Beautiful Day so we took advantage of it by visiting the park. The kids were in heaven! Luke was having so much fun on the swings and the slides. Addy loved exploring and running around. It was a great day!
For weeks Addy has been begging me to go to preschool. As I have been feeling super yucky (thanks to pregnancy) lately I decided to look into it. She loves being around other kids and learning new things so I knew she would thrive. I got a great recommendation from a friend and today was her first day. All went great! She woke up ready to walk out the door. When I dropped her off she didn't even look back. She waved bye as a courtesy because another child was saying goodbye to their mom. How did I get such an independent little child. She really had a great hour learning about magnets and how they work. Although we did have some challenges when we left (she wanted two stickers and only got one, ever child only got one). It was quiet traumatic! If you know Addy you know she is the greatest negotiator of all times. Where she gets it from I will never know. She always has to push the envelope. I am excited that she enjoyed herself though. It is so exciting that she is off on her own now. I can't believe how big my little girl is getting.
