Bubble Time

Today we had a great time blowing and playing with bubbles. Addy loves bubbles. In her little gym class her favorite part is bubble time and of course playing with balls.
This week I have been watching Addy explode in her language development. She has said to me several times ”Park?” (Meaning Mom I want to go to the park) and “Swing” (really it sounds more like “ning” she can’t quite say the “s” sound yet) She loves swinging on the swings at the park. She has told me that she wants to eat and go “nigh, nigh.” I am constantly amazed at how much she takes in. She is learning so much every day. Yesterday I ate a bagel for the first time in a long time. I told Addy it was a bagel and of course she wanted a “bite.” Then this morning I made another one and as I was preparing it she looked up at me and said “bagel” (as clear as I would say it). I was so surprised I called James downstairs for him to hear her latest new word. It’s just so fun watching this little spirit grow and develop.

Tender moment: Today was also a pretty rough day for me. I have been having a bunch of contractions and a head cold so I tried to take it easy today. James took Addy to church so I could sleep in peace. When James got home Addy went down for her nap and we all slept all afternoon. It was so great! When we woke up we brought Addy into bed with us to have some cuddle time. I love moments like that. Addy was sitting looking at both James and I and she put her hands on my face and James face and pushed our faces together to kiss each other. It was so funny. She wouldn’t release her hands for at least 30 seconds. She kept pushing our cheeks so we would kiss each other. I am so glad that she wants to see her mom and dad kiss. I hope that lasts forever!

some random thoughts

I have had so many thoughts running through my head over the past couple of weeks. I guess it is just due to getting settled down from all of our vacations and I think my nesting stage is kicking in. I have been overwhelmed with the urge to clean our house out of everything we don’t use anymore (a major de-clutter overhaul). It is a great feeling to get rid of stuff that has just been piled up in our bedroom and basement. I really have to say that this nesting thing is real! I had it bad when I was pregnant with Addy too. I am just glad it is kicking in now while I have some energy left. Every day that goes by I just feel bigger and bigger which makes me move that much slower.

Addy has been growing so much lately. She is talking up a storm, which is so exciting. I feel like we are actually having conversations some of the time. When she was about 6 months old we started teaching Addy sing language. I had read some interesting studies on teaching babies sign language and wanted to try it with her. My only concern was that she would use signing as a crutch and it would stunt her language development, boy was I wrong. Addy is trying so hard to say and pronounce properly every word that I ask her to repeat. It is amazing to watch her words evolve. We have been practicing saying “happy” for the past couple of days and yesterday in the car when we were driving home she said “happy” as clear as I would say it. I was so excited I almost swerved off the road (it was not that dramatic). I started clapping and cheering for her. The things you get excited about as a mother are really so funny. I couldn’t wait for my whole family to hear it. I think we called each aunt and uncle so that she could say her new word. That was preceded by “apple” which she said a few days before. It is just so magical watching your children develop in to little walking talking people.

Addy is also a very curious child. Recently we have found that to help Addy eat more (she is going through one of those “there are too many other fun things to do, why should I stop to eat” phases. It was concerning me because she is pretty skinny for her age, but I knew that at some point she would pull out of it. Well James started working with her during meals showing her flash cards during her meal times. After each flash card she identifies she eats a bite. It has held her interest and she is now eating again. Although I think we have created a monster because now at dinner especially she says “cars” (meaning flash cards). She is so proud of herself when she identifies the cards right. She claps for herself (following her even prouder parents lead of course).

I also have to say a few words about my wonderful husband. I am so blessed to be married to such a devoted, loving, and caring husband. He is a wonderful father and such a hard worker. James has been working so hard to make a good life for our little family and I just want to publicly thank him for all he does. He is my best friend in every way and I am so blessed that the Lord brought us together in the miraculous way he did.

Ok so those are my thoughts for now. Until next time…
