update...

Why is it that I have been on hold with Dish Network for over 10 minuets and still have yet to speak with a technical support person? Our system went out about three weeks ago and we just got a new receiver. They told us to call and install when we got the new receiver, and well that is what I am trying to do! Anyway, I know it shouldn't annoy me but I am on my cell phone and am having to pay for each minuet wasted. The things we are willing to do and go through just for TV. OK finally I have someone on the line. Thank you Dish Network for finally answering my call.

On another note. Addy just transitioned from two naps a day to one nap a day. I have to say there are some pros and cons to this new schedule. I loved the two naps a day because I could take a nap also in the morning when she was napping. I am really missing MY morning nap, but she now takes a three hour nap in the afternoon. It is wonderful having the morning to run errands, visit James at school, go to the park, pool or whatever else we want. I think this is going to work out great. She has adjusted really well, I am very proud of her. She has also broken through four new molars. I don't understand this child sometimes. She likes to get her teeth all at once. When she was 6-8 months old she got 7 new teeth and now she is getting 4 all in one month. Thus she has been a little bit more fussy then usual, which is challenging for me because she wants to be held all of the time but once I pick her up she wants right back down again. That's what you get though when you have a very ACTIVE child. We are going on vacation soon so hopefully our extended family will be able to chase after her while giving mommy a brake.

Enrichment Ideas

I am trying to compile a list of fun and uplifting Enrichment activities for our Relief Society to do. If you have any activities that you have done in your wards that have been particularly successful please comment on them. Unfortunately we have a limited budget so we can't do too many extravagant activities. Also, if you have any successful ideas for groups that have been done in your ward let me know. We are struggling to have success in that area.

Today is one of THOSE days

You know those days when your child is clinging to your legs and won't let you alone not even to go to the bathroom, well today was one of THOSE days for me. I know this is some sort of phase that Addy is going through but seriously can't a girl get some privacy at least to go to the restroom. I am usually ok with it but James has been gone for a few days so I have not had a brake at all! It will be nice to have him home tonight. He promised me that he would take care of everything tomorrow, including Addy and our usual Saturday house-cleaning list! I am so excited! This means I finally get to sleep in past 6:30am. YEA!!!! Ok now that my venting is over (sorry for that) Addy and I really actually had a fun day. We did a trial class at The Little Gym that just opened up near my house. If you know Addy at all you know that she is a very VERY active little girl and needs a place to run around. As our house is really not accommodating enough for her I thought I might try out a baby gym. It was a mom and me class and they taught the kids how to do rolls and flips. It was so cute watching all of the little ones get so excited for bubble time and jumping time. I wish I had a picture. I think that after this trial class I might sign her up for the fall session. Has anyone out there had any experiences with Little Gym, or anything like it for their little ones? If so please share your experience. I would love to know how other kids respond. After Little Gym it was naptime for both of us and then off to run some errands. I took Addy off the bottle about two weeks ago so we went to get some new sippy cups. I still have not found one I LOVE yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Now we are home and getting ready for our bedtime routine.
In short, as much as my little Addy clings to me I don't think I would have it any other way. She is showing her love in the best way she knows how. She wants to be near her mommy how can I fault her for that. She just looked up at me and gave me a smile that melted my heart. I am lucky! SOOOO LUCKY to be her mother!

Good reads...

Ok so I finally finished The Glass Castle this past week. I have been reading it on and off for the past couple of months. I have this weird problem of starting a book and if I really love it I will stop reading it for a month or so and then rediscover it and finish it a month later. I don't know why I do this. My theory is that I love the book so much I just don't want it to end. When I finally do pick it up again it is usually finished within a few days. I remember reading Expecting Adam a few years back and I read everything but the last few pages. I just didn't want it to end. It was just so good. Anyway, I did finally finish it and have read it many times since. I just got a new book today from my mother-in-law for my upcoming birthday. Nickel and Dimed by Barbra Ehrenreich. It is about a journalists experience trying to find out if a person can really survive on minimum wage in America. I will let you all know how it goes. I also started reading the Memory Keeper's Daughter. Has anyone read this? If anyone has any other good book suggestions please let me know. We are going to the beach in Aug and I want to take a few to read there.

Happy 4th of July

Hi Everyone,

Happy 4th of July! This is the first time in years that I have not spent my favorite holiday in DC. We have been having a great time here though with my in-laws. They came out to spend a few days visiting with us. Addy has been loving all the attention from Grams and Gramps.
Well, yesterday we went to a BBQ that a friend of mine threw but it rained most of the time so we never did get to see fireworks. Maybe next year we will get out to downtown St. Louis and celebrate at the Arch. It is a big deal here! They actually celebrate for three days.
Today we went to downtown St. Louis to show my in-laws where we used to live. They have done a lot of improvements to the neighborhood since we left but there are still a lot of sketchy areas surrounding our old house so I have no regrets about moving to the country. We have really enjoyed living out in “cornfield land”

Here are a few pictures from our fun week so far. Addy I think is the most photographed child alive. I hope I keep it up with this next child.

PS: we find out in three more weeks what we are having… I’m so excited! Any guesses???

Our day at the pool

Today we took Addy for Family Night at the University Pool. Every Monday Night the school opens the pool to faculty and student families to a free swim time. We had a great time. Addy was a little timid at first but she really warmed up when we took her in the 1 foot baby pool. She floated around in her awesome turtle float that Grandmom Seay gave her. She splashed around and by the end we even had her kicking her feet doing a "mock-swim". I am trying to get her used to the pool without too much trauma! The pool was located in the forest on campus near a beautiful lake. The closest parking was far away so they offered gulf cart rides to and from the pool. Addy was fascinated with the ride. She pointed out at all of the trees and grass along the way. On the way back we decided to walk. She kept sitting down on the road trying to pick up the rocks (which were imbedded in the concrete). Kids are fascinated by the funniest things.

Good Day Sunshine

Addy's latest photos! We have had a wonderful week with my mom visiting. She spoiled us with shopping, lunches out, and of course great company! It was so much fun having her here. Addy has been growing up so much latley. She is talking up a strom. She started recognizing her colors and different fruits and veggies. Her newest favorite word to say is "snake." She scrunches up her nose and pronounces it "nnnaaakkkeee." I will post a video clip of it soon. You really have to hear her saying it! Enjoy the pictures!

Addy trying to walk up the stairs. She seems to want to just skip over the climbing thing.
Here she is saying her new favorite "no,no!" Thats what mommy says when she is not allowed to touch or do something. She is saying it as she is going up the stairs...which she is not allowed to do unattended.

Wearing her new favorite dress from Aunt Emily!
