Bumbo Baby

This week Addy has become fascinated with her baby Bumbo seat. We got it for her when she was almost 4 months old to help her sit up. If you have never heard of it before they are the best! They are squishy but firm so the baby feels supported and can sit up and see the world before they have the strength and ability to do it on their own. When Addy grew out of her seat (or rather started sitting up on her own we put the seat away) The other day when I was cleaning out the toy basket in our family room I took the seat out and sat it on the floor (I am going to lend it to a friend who needs one for her 5 month old). Addy rediscovered it! She started crawling in and out of it. She even learned how to crawl in and sit down and get out. Every time she did it she would clap for herself with such pride at what she had mastered. It was the cutest thing! Of course I had to document this moment...enjoy!

A Good Enough Mother

Dear Addy,
You have really started to grow up these past few weeks. As of yesterday you are 11 months old, so we are now officially on the countdown to your first birthday! As we approach this special day I pause to reflect on the past year. What a year it has been. Here are a few words to describe it: elation, joy, pain, exhaustion, stress, happiness, laughter, smiles, hugs, kisses, ma-ma, da-da, love, wonder, amazement. I think about all of your firsts Addy. The first time you looked into my eyes with recognition. The first time you smiled at me. The first time you laughed out loud. The first time you slept through the night (your father and I had to wait a long time for that one). The first time you got sick and just wanted to be held and loved. The first time you rolled over (it took a lot of coaxing but once you started you never stopped). The first time you commando crawled (what a cute site that was). The first time you pulled yourself up onto the couch (you did it with such determination and strength). The first time you said ma ma (that was music to my ears). The first time you walked (we are still practicing this one but you are almost there) You will walk between your father and me but you are still a little nervous to venture out on your own. The first time you fell and hit your head (that was a scary moment, I checked on you 12 times during the night to make sure you were still breathing).
All of these memories (now just memories...that's amazing) are what made me fall in love with you more and more each day. I look forward to next year and years ahead when we can continue to make many more memories. Your father and I often say to ourselves before we go to sleep at night how lucky we are to have you in our life Addy. You have enhanced my life so much its indescribable. Each moment I get to spend with you I feel the blessings from Heaven pouring out on me. How blessed am I that God chose me to be your mother.

I love you my sweet angel.
