A Good Laugh

Today James was playing with Addy and all I am going to say is suction cup, forehead, hickey, etc... pictures are worth a thousand words. I can't stop laughing!

My sweet Addy

Ok so the story goes...James was playing with a toy of Addy's that has a suction on the end of it...meant for car windows. Anyway, he decided it would be a goo idea to suction it to his head. They played for a while and then when he finally took it off a red, then purple, then dark purple circle started to appear right in the middle of his forehead. He is not sure how he is going to explain this one to his students. Hopefully it will be gone by Monday ( although secretly I am hoping it is still there so he has to tell the story!) Ha ha ha!!! I love you James!!!

On another note... her is another really cute website I found I love everything!

Yesterday Addy took her first real steps on her own. It was so much fun to watch. She has been practicing walking with her push toy every day for a couple of weeks. James and I take her over to the basketball gym at school and let her roam around. She loves it! The other day the team was practicing and Addy would walk a few steps stop and look at them and say "ba ba" her version of basketball and then start walking again.
I know I say this all the time but watching my little girl grow up is the most incredible experience of my life. She brings so much joy to my life its indescribable. Tonight as she was falling asleep I was looking at her did I get so lucky, to be the mother to this beautiful, spirited little child. I can only hope that I can bless her life as much as she has blessed mine.

She looks so tiny here

There are some moments in life that take your breath away. This is one of those moments. I was going through some photographs of when Addy was first born. She was so small and helpless. As she approaches her first birthday she has changed and grown so much. Each day she exerts more and more of her independence. I will always charish quiet moments with her where I can gaze in awe at my precious gift God has given me.

Tornado Warning

"I don't think I am in Kansas anymore"

Right now we are having a tornado warning. Since living in the Midwest I have been in many storms that have resulted in a tornado warning. I have yet to see one and I am totally ok with that. In fact this past summer I was caught in one of the scariest storms I have ever experienced. Here in the town in which we live they have sirens that go off to warn of an impending tornado. I had taken Addy out for a drive when she was about three months old. We stopped by Sonic to get a soda and as we were waiting the sky went dark and it started to light up with the biggest bolts of lightning I had ever seen. I didn't know what to do but pray. I prayed that we could be guided to safety and that we would be able to stay alive. I am not over exaggerating here. It was really really scary. Anyway, we were pretty close to Jame's school so we drove over there. I parked as close to the door as I could get. By this point the rain was pouring down (monsoon rains) and the Tornado sirens were wailing all around us. The wind was eerily dead which is a really bad sign. I scanned the sky's for some funnels before I got out of the car to run to the building. I said a quick prayer and then all of the sudden James was at my door. He pulled Addy out of the car, I jumped out and we ran as fast as we could to the building. The power was out at the school and all of the students were lined up in the halls and in the inner rooms were there were no windows. I was so grateful to be safe and with James. Overall it was a terrifying experience. I hope today's storm isn't as bad as that one. At least we have a basement to run to this time.

Yesterday Addy actually let me put a bow in her hair. It looked so cute! I took some pictures before she actually realized it was there and pulled it out. It lasted a few minuets and that is better then none. Gotta love a cute baby with a cute bow!

Here are some cute websites that I found with cute baby clothes and shoe here and . Check out the sale items.

Disney Princesses and Ritz Crackers

Today Addy and I went with some friends on a little trip into the city to see Disney Princesses on Ice. I know your probably thinking isn't she a little young for that...Addy yes probably but me...never! You are never to young to enjoy reliving the Disney Princess experience. I will say as the show started a tear came to my eye hearing the music seeing Mickey and I am not crazy! I just had all of these amazing childhood Disney memories flood into my mine. Growing up our family went to Disney World at least ever three to five years. I will say these trips were not without their family fights but for the most part I have some of my most magical memories as a child in Disney World. I love the feeling I have when I am there and can't wait for my children to experience it too. It is amazing to think that I am 27 years old and when I see Disney anything I feel like a kid again. It was a nostalgic experience.

Watching Addy watch the show was so touching. One might thing she would be too young to enjoy something like that but she was mesmerized ever minuet (almost 2 hours). She danced around on my lap and sang along with the songs (well yelled out in her own language). By the end she started to get a little restless but I just gave her a Ritz cracker and she was as content as can be. I think she would have stayed there all day if she could watch the princesses and eat her crackers. She is getting so big and it makes me realize how much I want to cherish each moment I have with her.

Overall it was a fantastic day! The show was amazing. If they ever come to your city you should take your kids. It was a true Disney experience right in my very own city!

Cute jacket

Ok so I just got this new shirt from Forever21. I know its a teen store but let me just dream for a moment that I am 16 again...actually I don't want to go back there. I am happy just where I am now. Anyway, who said just because your a mom you can't look cute! Thanks Nana!

Best friends are the BEST!

I know Adrienne already blogged about our visit but I also wanted to give a shout out to her. It was so revitalizing to see my "best friend" after almost a year. I can't believe we have gone this long seeing each other because it felt like I just saw her yesterday. It is amazing how great friendships can endure the test of time. When we are together I feel like we are 10 years old again calling each other on Christmas morning asking..."what did you get?" or "Want to come over." Its funny often when Adrienne and I talk to each other I just tell her on the phone "lets meet up at the mall" or "come over and play" knowing though that it would be impossible. I am still holding onto the dream that we will one day have our houses next door to each other on the culdesac, with our kids best friends just a we are.
Throughout my life I have often thought why I was blessed with such a dear friend. I don't ask why anymore I just thank the Lord for all of the amazing blessings my dear friendship with Adrienne has brought to my life. Age, I love you more then a friend more then a sister. Thanks for always being there for me.

Oh to be back East

For the past week we have been in Washington DC visiting family. It was so much fun to see my family and friends. Addy was so happy to see everyone too. She was especially thrilled to see Bugy our dog. She kept saying…”ba, ba, ba” It was so cute! Here are a few Addy milestones in the past week

This week was an exciting time for language development for Addy. I think she officially has said her first words…”Tickle, Book, and Cracker” She is taking everything in so amazingly. I love the way she studies my lips and then tries so hard to form the words with her mouth. She has also learned the sign for “more.” I started teaching it to her when she was about 5 months old. You know I wanted to see if signing with babies actually worked. Over the past couple of months I have slacked off in teaching her. Then the other day when I was feeding her I asked “Addy do you want some more?” She looked at me intently and then put her hands together making the sign. I was so shocked. It’s so amazing to see her develop and grow into a real person.

I also found this cool website thanks to my friend Nancy. You should all check it out Also we got our family pictures taken this week by one of my favorite photographers Jonathan Canlas. If you want to check out his work go to

Laundry...will it ever end?

Why is it that laundry seems to never end? I tried yesterday to do all of the laundry and get it over with in one day. By the end of the day I felt so great... I did four loads, folded everything and put it all away. What a great feeling! I really accomplished something. I realized though that we had clothes from that morning in the basket in our bedroom, Addy's clothes that she gotten food all over from her dinner, and dirty towels in the bathroom...and so it goes all over again! Oh well I guess this is a universal truth...Laundry is a never-ending battle!

At least I had Addy to help me...or not...

How early do babies learn to really speak? Addy has been trying so hard to say some choice words this week. It’s so cute. Her favorites include...tickle, ball, ducky, and no! Its pretty amazing watching her study my mouth so hard and then try to copy what I am saying in her own cute way. Language development is fascinating in children.

I tried to post a picture of Addy helping me do the laundry, but its not working right. I will post it later.
